Asheru Turns the Funk Parade into a Music Video
- July 21, 2014
Chop N Shoot Films was hired by Asheru to produce the music video for his song “Funky DC.” This wasn’t your average production. The scene for the video was Washington, DC’s annual Funk Parade on U Street. We were informed Asheru would be jointed by Ballou High School’s marhcing band. We immediately knew this had to be a multiple camera shoot. A bulk of this video was us adapting to ever changing plans and parade routes. A lot of our original plays for from the pre-production phase had to be altered in real time to meet the changing conditions of the project. Our goal was to capture the essence of the festivities and match it with the vibe of the song. This project was part event videography and part music video cinematography. Luckily we have backgrounds in both fields.
Our A camera for this shoot was the Sony FS100. The B camera was the tiny but powerful Sony NEX 5n. Everything was shot handheld as we pretty much had no other option for this production. When it was all said and done we had a tone of footage to edit in post production. We were at a great advantage of making the best possible video by filming with 2 cameras.
